닻을 내리다

나무는 제 생의 대부분을 그늘에 적시네
후박나무 언저리
잎사귀 끄트머리에 薄明이 걸터앉았네

 

뱃전 같은 잎새 위
빛과 어둠의 가변 경계에 내 마음도 걸터앉아
내려다보니
그윽하여라 그늘의
수심,
투명하게 저문 제 바닥에
닻 내리는
목선 한 채 그림자 일렁이네

 

지구의 이마 다 젖어든
저녁은 어디로부터 밀물져 오는 것일까

 

멀리 바라보이는 지평은
창이 많은 기선처럼 깜빡이네
정박하는 모든
아스라한 것들 닻 내리는 기척에
젖가슴 미동처럼 푸들대는
무른 땅덩이

 

시간의 물살에 쓸려 오래 씻긴
몇 낱, 젖은 별떨기
저 닻별*
일억 광년 어둠의 깊이에 닻줄 내리네

 

 

*카시오페아좌에 붙인 다른 이름

 

 

 

The Anchor Holds

I have journeyed
Through the long, dark night
Out on the open sea
By faith alone
Sight unknown
And yet His eyes were watching me

The anchor holds
Though the ship is battered
The anchor holds
Though the sails are torn
I have fallen on my knees
As I faced the raging seas
The anchor holds
In spite of the storm

Ive had visions
Ive had dreams
Ive even held them in my hand
But I never knew
They would slip right through
Like they were only grains of sand

I have been young
But I am older now
And there has been beauty
That these eyes have seen
But it was in the night
Through the storms of my life
Oh, thats where God proved
His love to me
