It looks like breaking records back and forth has become a habit for the boy group, BTS. on November 30, 2019 BTS carved a new history at the 2019 Melon Music Awards thus proving their dominance. BTS were the stars of the night at the grand music event which was held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. The group who was the most awarded act of the night won eight awards in total including four Daesang Awards at the prestigious year-end award ceremony.
BTS won all the four Daesang Awards for categories Record of the Year, Best Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Artist of the Year. This is the first time in the history of Melon Music Awards or any other year-end award show that an act has swept all the Daesang Awards. BTS has also become the most awarded artists in Melon Music Awards history.
Other than these, the group received awards for the categories, Top 10 of the Year, Netizen Popularity, and Best Male Dance and Kakao Hot Star Award. As they walked to the stage for receiving each of the awards, BTS graciously thanked ARMY every time for the unwavering love that they had received.
BTS’ AWARD ACCEPTANCE SPEECH
While accepting award for Top 10 of the Year, Jin said, “To ARMY who always gives us love, I love you”. After receiving the Best Male Dance, Jungkook said, “Thanks to ARMY, I have the power to dance.
For the Netizen Popularity acceptance speech V said,”I had a dream to make a lot of good memories with ARMY. It seems like a dream that I am receiving this award now. I want to express my appreciation and love but I have not found the right words yet.”
Referring to Kakao Hot Star Award, Jimin pointed out,”Hot and trendy are words that are seemed to be made by fans of many stars. Us receiving this award means that our ARMY are just as hot. When we are always overseas, we are always told about how high ARMY’s level is. I will work hard not to fall behind in your hotness. I love you.”
On receiving the Record of the Year award, RM expressed his views that he believes that BTS is receiving this award on behalf of the fans and their music listeners. He promises to work harder to create greater records in the future. Jungkook, after getting Song of the Year award said, “I think that I am a very happy person because I can convey my strength, hope and happiness to others with my favorite music. I want to be happy with you in the future.”
During the Album of the Year speech, Suga said, “This year was a very happy year. I am very grateful to the people who gave me a lot of love.” While, Jimin said, “Because we received so much love, I don’t really know when I’ll repay you.”
OTHER AWARDS, BTS BEING MENTIONED AND BTS’ PERFORMANCE
The staff members of BigHit also gained recognition for the awards. J-Hope mentioned their appreciation for choreographer Son Sung Deok when they won the Best Dance Award. Meanwhile, Producer P-Dogg also won the award in the Best Songwriter category for “Boy With Luv”.
BTS were consistently mentioned by other singers and actors during the event. Many actors who were present as award presenters expressed their expectations for the BTS ‘stage performance. And Heize, who won the Best R&B Soul category for the Suga-produced song, “We Don’t Talk Together” mentioned him by saying “Thank you very much, Min PD.”
BTS’ stage performance is an absolute watch for the viewers as the group has outdone their previous performances yet again. BTS performed a total of five songs, which includes PERSONA, Boy In Luv, Boy With Luv, Microkosmos, and Dionysus. In particular, the solo performances of each of the seven members attracted the attention of many music fans.
After the award ceremony, BTS took to Twitter to thank ARMY for their support. They posted a picture with the caption “Teamwork makes the dream work”, a quote which is popular among the fandom and has been used in the past on many occasions.
