I came up with the question in our printmaking
class critic.
While you are making different artwork series,
do you have a strong pillar for the content in your heart?
What made you being an
artist?
Everyone who wants to his/her best in
everyday life, but some things are always missing and feel empty…
Why?
I got this comments from
Jose…
If he/she stays in safe stage where he/she
achieved already his/her masterpiece, he/she is no longer an artist, even though
he/she is a great artist.
Challenge new area, struggle with it, achieve
something and move on to challenge something new, this is the only way to live
as an artist, or everyone who wants to live with true
self...
I had feeing that whoever throws the meaningful
questions to the world, he/she must have a great power to bring out something
good from other people...
I truly thanks for
that.
Is this the meaning of
life?
The purpose of finding a “meaning
of life” is for ourselves to live better life which is considered for not only
enjoying happy life but also living spiritually valuable life.
First of all, in order to
starting this journey, it is needed to define the position for meaning of being.
Also, it is important to signify
the relationship in between past, present and future.
Moreover, it leads us to aware the value, endowment and fruitfulness of life.
First thing I can think of is
“where do we come from?”
I just opened the book of
Genesis, automatically.
Genesis start
with…
In the beginning God created the heavens and
the earth.
One
day,
"Let there be light"; God called the light day
and night.
A second
day,
"Let there be an expanse in the midst of the
waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters."
God called the expanse
heaven.
A third
day,
"Let the waters below the heavens...," the dry
land earth and seas...
"Let the earth sprout....," vegetation, plants,
trees, seed, fruit...
A fourth day,
"Let there be lights in the expanse of the
havens...," for signs, seasons, days and
years;
The greater light to govern the day, the lesser
light to govern the night,
He made the stars
also.
A fifth
day,
"Let the waters teem with swarms of living
creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the
heavens."
"Be fruitful and multiply...in the seas...on
the earth."
The sixth
day,
"Let the earth bring forth living creatures
after their kind: cattle, creeps...
"Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our
likeness, and let them rule over: the fish..., the birds..., the cattle...creeps
on the earth."
God created man in His own image, in the image
of God He created him: male and female He created
them.
God blessed
them;
"Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth,
and subdue it; and rule over... every living thing that moves on the
earth."
"Behold, I have given... every thing
that moves on the earth which has life…"
God saw that it was very
good...
By the seventh
day,
God completed His work which He had
done; and He rested..., blessed, and sanctified it…
Then, I started to find some other
people’s comment for
that.
I found these words from the philosophy
internet site.
It goes…
Ludwig Wittgenstein said,
"What is the use of studying philosophy if all
it does for you is to enable you to talk with some plausibility about some
abstruse questions in logic, etc., and if it does not improve your thinking
about the important questions of everyday life?"
Can we apply in our artist
role?
In conclusion, define the
awareness of the value, endowment and fruitfulness for life.
Peter B. Raabe
said,
“While the
adage that the unexamined life is not worth living is somewhat of an
exaggeration, it is certainly true that the examination of a life can lead to
the living of a better life.”
It is just starting for my
journey to find “meaning of life.”
Look deep inside of our heart.
Indeed, there are words for
us.
“Honest appraisal is the
starting point for change.”
