"Hi Seoul” aims to convey a friendly image of Seoul to the global community,
and to promote harmony and unity among Seoul citizens.
Since "hi" is a homophone of "high”,
the brand offers a new vision for Seoul and reflects the city's commitment
to make Seoul one of the world's leading cities.
The design of the brand features three colors to represent Korea:
blue, red and yellow.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government designed its emblem
in order to show the bright future of the capital city of the Republic of Korea.
"Wangbeomi" is a compound noun made up of
"wang" (king, chief, head, or very big),
"beom" (tiger),
and "-i" (a noun-derivational suffix).
The big-eyed tiger's name best befits the image of Seoul, a global city
as well as the capital and the largest city in Korea.
