Who am I?

 

 

Who am I?

 

           I was born of an artist (my father) and an educator (my mother). I was formed my character exactly half and half by my parents until I got married. I was reborn as a hard worker with a different first and last name when I got married to my husband.

I have struggled, living with these three different characters in me.

            I majored in Fine Art, Oriental Painting, since I always wanted to be a great artist, just like my father. I planned to go to graduate school to pursue my career as a fine artist, but my father passed away when I was a senior in college. After I graduated college, I had to support my younger sister, who was attending high school at that time. I postponed my career as an artist and taught kids art for a living. I also like to teach, just like my mom did when she was my age, to support her five younger brothers and sisters. Probably I got that sacrifice characteristic from my mom supporting my sister all the way until she got her BA degree for Fine Art.

            When I was about to go back to graduate school, I met my husband, got married and moved to the USA. I thought I could pursue my career after I married, but that was just my idealistic dream, since I had to go to work right away to support our married life.

             Now, I am back to school to prepare to go to graduate school. I will push hard myself to obtain the Master degree in Fine Art. This year 2004 is my father’s 20^th memorial year. I haven’t prepared his memorial exhibition yet. I promised myself for five years, a preparatory period, for my father's honorable exhibition. I would like to write a graduation thesis about my father. It will be led me to publish my father’s memorial art book that exhibit his magnificent paintings and convey his great spiritual theories. I would like to contribute, what I’ve inspired from my father, to the young artists and to the public. I also like to introduce my father to the different cultures through out to the world, as well.
