7.  교회란?  What is Church?

 

 

사람이 어떤 단체에 속해 있을 때, 자신이 속해 있는 단체를 정확하게 이해하지 못하면 사실상 그 단체와 무관한 사람일 수밖에 없습니다.

우리는 모두 '교회'에 다니는 교인입니다. 따라서 '교회'가 무엇인지 이해하는 것은 대단히 중요합니다.

많은 크리스천들이 '교회'를 바르게 이해하지 못하고 있는 현실은 실로 가슴 아프기 짝이 없는 일입니다.

 

교회는 '사람들의 모임' 입니다.

교회란 단어는 '엑믈레시아' 즉 '부르심을 입은 자' 라는 뜻입니다.

교회란 예수 그리스도의 이름을 부르는 성도들의 모임입니다.

1. 성경은 교회를 어떻게 설명하고 있습니까?

 

1-1. 1 Corinthians 고리도전서 1: 1~3

¹ Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,

² To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours:

³ Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

1    하나님의 뜻을 따라 그리스도 예수의 사도로 부르심을 받은 바울과 형제 소스데네는
2    고린도에 있는 하나님의 교회 곧 그리스도 예수 안에서 거룩하여지고 성도라 부르심을 받은 자들과 또 각처에서 우리의 주 곧 그들과 우리의 주 되신 예수 그리스도의 이름을 부르는 모든 자들에게
3    하나님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도로부터 은혜와 평강이 있기를 원하노라.

 

1-1-1. 하나님의 교회는 그리스도 예수 안에서 거룩하여지고

1-1-2. 성도라 부르심을 받은 자들이며

1-1-3. 예수 그리스도의 이름을 부르는 모든 자들입니다.

 

1-2. Matthew 마태복음 16: 13~18

Peter's Confession of Christ

 ¹³ When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"

 ¹⁴ They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."

 ¹⁵ "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"

 ¹⁶ Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

 ¹⁷ Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.

¹⁸ And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

 

베드로가 예수를 그리스도로 고백하다

13    예수께서 빌립보 가이사랴 지방에 이르러 제자들에게 물어 이르시되 사람들이 인자를 누구라 하느냐
14    이르되 더러는 세례 요한, 더러는 엘리야, 어떤 이는 예레미야나 선지자 중의 하나라 하나이다
15    이르시되 너희는 나를 누구라 하느냐
16    시몬 베드로가 대답하여 이르되 주는 그리스도시요 살아 계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다
17    예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 바요나 시몬아 네가 복이 있도다 이를 네게 알게 한 이는 혈육이 아니요 하늘에 계신 내 아버지시니라
18    또 내가 네게 이르노니 너는 베드로라 내가 이 반석 위에 내 교회를 세우리니 음부의 권세가 이기지 못하리라

 

교회는 '주는 그리스도시요 살아 계신 하나님의 아들이시니이다' 라는 신앙고백 위에 주님이 세우신 주님의 교회입니다.

그러므로 교회의 주인은 주님이십니다.

 

 

2. 381년 교회는 니케아 콘스탄티노플 신조를 통하여 "우리는 하나이고, 거룩하고, 보편적이고, 사도적인 교회를 믿는다" 고 고백했습니다.

    이 신조야 말로 교회의 특성을 잘 보여주고 있습니다.

 

NICENE-CONSTANTINOPLE CREED

 

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, the maker of heaven and earth, of things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the begotten of God the Father,

the only-begotten, that is of the essence of the Father.

God of God, Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten and not made;

of the very same nature of the Father, by Whom all things came into being, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible.

Who for us humanity and for our salvation came down from heaven, was incarnate, was made human,

was born perfectly of the holy virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit.

By whom He took body, soul, and mind, and everything that is in man, truly and not in semblance.

He suffered, was crucified, was buried, rose again on the third day, ascended into heaven with the same body,

[and] sat at the right hand of the Father.

He is to come with the same body and with the glory of the Father, to judge the living and the dead;

of His kingdom there is no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, in the uncreated and the perfect; Who spoke through the Law, prophets, and Gospels;

Who came down upon the Jordan, preached through the apostles, and lived in the saints.

We believe also in only one, Universal, Apostolic, and [Holy] Church; in one baptism in repentance, for the remission,

and forgiveness of sins; and in the resurrection of the dead, in the everlasting judgement of souls and bodies,

and the Kingdom of Heaven and in the everlasting life.

 

니케아 콘스탄티노플 신조

 

＋ 한 분이신 하느님을 저는 믿나이다. 전능하신 아버지, 하늘과 땅과 유형무형한 만물의 창조주를 믿나이다.

또한 한 분이신 주 예수 그리스도, 하느님의 외아들, 영원으로부터 성부에게서 나신 분을 믿나이다.

하느님에게서 나신 하느님, 빛에서 나신 빛.

참 하느님에게서 나신 참 하느님으로서, 창조되지 않고 나시어 성부와 한 본체로서 만물을 창조하셨음을 믿나이다.

성자께서 저희 인간을 위하여, 저희 구원을 위하여 하늘에서 내려오셨음을 믿나이다.

또한 성령으로 인하여 동정 마리아에게서 육신을 취하시어 사람이 되셨음을 믿나이다.

본시오 빌리도 통치 아래서 저희를 위하여 십자가에 못박혀 수난하고 묻히셨으며

성서 말씀대로 사흗날에 부활하시어 하늘에 올라 성부 오른편에 앉아계심을 믿나이다.

그분께서는 산 이와 죽은 이를 심판하러 영광 속에 다시 오시리니 그분의 나라는 끝이 없으리이다.

또한 주님이시며 생명을 주시는 성령을 믿나이다.

성령께서는 성부와 성자에게서 발하시고 성부와 성자와 더불어 영광과 흠숭을 받으시며 예언자들을 통하여 말씀하셨나이다. 하나이고 거룩하고 보편되며 사도로부터 이어오는 교회를 믿나이다.

죄를 씻는 유일한 세례를 믿으며 죽은 이들의 부활과 내세의 삶을 기다리나이다. 아멘.

 

 2-1. 하나의 교회

2-1-1. 교회가 하나이어야 하는 이유

Ephesians 에베소서 4장 3~6

³ Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

⁴ There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called—

⁵ one Lord, one faith, one baptism;

⁶ one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

 

3    평안의 매는 줄로 성령이 하나 되게 하신 것을 힘써 지키라
4    몸이 하나요 성령도 한 분이시니 이와 같이 너희가 부르심의 한 소망 안에서 부르심을 받았느니라
5    주도 한 분이시요 믿음도 하나요 세례도 하나요
6    하나님도 한 분이시니 곧 만유의 아버지시라 만유 위에 계시고 만유를 통일하시고 만유 가운데 계시도다

 

2-1-2. 현실적으로 여러 종파와 교파가 존재하는 이유

열린마음으로 보면 한 분이신 하나님 곧 만유의 아버지시라

만유 위에 계시고 만유를 통일하시고 만유 가운데 계시도다.

 

2-1-3. 교훈

2-1-3-1. 평안의 매는 줄로 성령이 하나 되게 하신 것을 힘써 지키라

2-1-3-2. 부르심의 한 소망 안에서 부르심을 받았느니라

2-1-3-3. 만유 위에 계시고 만유를 통일하시고 만유 가운데 계시도다.

 

2-2. 거룩한 교회

2-2-1. 거룩한 이유 :

'성도' 란 '거룩한 사람들' 이란 뜻입니다.

칭의 - 하나님께서 우리들을 거룩하다고 인정하시기 대문입니다

 

2-2-1-1. 로마서 1: 7

To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: 
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

로마에서 하나님의 사랑하심을 받고 성도로 부르심을 받은 모든 자에게

하나님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도로부터 은혜와 평강이 있기를 원하노라

2-2-1-2. 에베소서 1: 22~23

²² And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church,

²³ which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

 

22    또 만물을 그의 발 아래에 복종하게 하시고 그를 만물 위에 교회의 머리로 삼으셨느니라
23    교회는 그의 몸이니 만물 안에서 만물을 충만하게 하시는 이의 충만함이니라

 

2-3. 보편적인 교회

2-3-1. 의미 : 만민을 위한 교회

2-3-2. 이유

2-3-2-1. 요한복음 3:16

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,

that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

 

하나님이 세상을 이처럼 사랑하사 독생자를 주셨으니

이는 그를 믿는 자마다 멸망하지 않고 영생을 얻게 하려 하심이라

 

2-3-2-2. 마태복음 28: 19~20

 ¹⁹ Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

²⁰ and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

 

19    그러므로 너희는 가서 모든 민족을 제자로 삼아 아버지와 아들과 성령의 이름으로 세례를 베풀고
20    내가 너희에게 분부한 모든 것을 가르쳐 지키게 하라

볼지어다 내가 세상 끝날까지 너희와 항상 함께 있으리라 하시니라

 

2-3-3. 교훈 : 교회는 만민을 구원하시는 주님의 집 입니다

 

2-4. 사도적 교회

2-4-1. 의미 : 사도들이 전하여준 말씀 - 목사님은 하나님의 말씀을 전하는 도구이며

                                                      우리는 목사님이 전하시는 하나님의 말씀을 들어야 합니다.

 

2-4-2. 에베소서 2: 20~22

²⁰ built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. ²¹ In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.

²² And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

 

20    너희는 사도들과 선지자들의 터 위에 세우심을 입은 자라 그리스도 예수께서 친히 모퉁잇돌이 되셨느니라
21    그의 안에서 건물마다 서로 연결하여 주 안에서 성전이 되어 가고
22    너희도 성령 안에서 하나님이 거하실 처소가 되기 위하여 그리스도 예수 안에서 함께 지어져 가느니라

 

2-5. 교훈

Sola Fide :        by faith alone :         오직 믿음으로

Sola Scriptura :  by scripture alone :   오직 말씀으로

Sola Gracia :     by grace alone :        오직 은혜로

 

 

3. 교회의 목적은 무었입니까?

3-1. 마태복음 4:17 : 하나님 말씀을 전하여 천국으로 인도하기 위하여...

From that time on Jesus began to preach, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

이 때부터 예수께서 비로소 전파하여 이르시되 회개하라 천국이 가까이 왔느니라 하시더라

 

3-2. 마태복음 12:28 : 하나님 나라가 이미 우리 가운데 임하였느니라.

But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

그러나 내가 하나님의 성령을 힘입어 귀신을 쫓아내는 것이면 하나님의 나라가 이미 너희에게 임하였느니라

 

4. 성경적인 모델:  Genesis 창세기 2: 8~17

 

⁸ Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.

⁹ And the LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

¹⁰ A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters.

¹¹ The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold.

¹² (The gold of that land is good; aromatic resin and onyx are also there.)

¹³ The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush.

¹⁴ The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Asshur. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

 ¹⁵ The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.

¹⁶ And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;

¹⁷ but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

 

8    여호와 하나님이 동방의 에덴에 동산을 창설하시고 그 지으신 사람을 거기 두시니라
9    여호와 하나님이 그 땅에서 보기에 아름답고 먹기에 좋은 나무가 나게 하시니 동산 가운데에는 생명 나무와 선악을 알게 하는 나무도 있더라
10    강이 에덴에서 흘러 나와 동산을 적시고 거기서부터 갈라져 네 근원이 되었으니
11    첫째의 이름은 비손이라 금이 있는 하윌라 온 땅을 둘렀으며
12    그 땅의 금은 순금이요 그 곳에는 베델리엄과 호마노도 있으며
13    둘째 강의 이름은 기혼이라 구스 온 땅을 둘렀고
14    셋째 강의 이름은 힛데겔이라 앗수르 동쪽으로 흘렀으며 넷째 강은 유브라데더라
15    여호와 하나님이 그 사람을 이끌어 에덴 동산에 두어 그것을 경작하며 지키게 하시고
16    여호와 하나님이 그 사람에게 명하여 이르시되 동산 각종 나무의 열매는 네가 임의로 먹되
17    선악을 알게 하는 나무의 열매는 먹지 말라 네가 먹는 날에는 반드시 죽으리라 하시니라

 

4-1. 동산 Eden - 기쁨 - 열심히 나에게 주어진 책임과 의무를 다 했을때 오는 기쁨

그러나 다른 사람을 위한것 이었을때 진정한 기쁨을 느낄 수 있다

교회 안은... 세상/세속과 달라야 한다.

 

재귀동사로 쓰여질때... 주색의 의미를 갖는다

나만을 위한 것이라면... 자기만을 위한 Eden... 즉... 주색의 동산이 되어버린다.

 

4-2. 강에는 물이 있다 - 생명을 상징하며... 생명을 살리는 것은 "사랑이다"

사랑은 희생이나... 그러나 때론... 낭비이다.

 

4-3. 보석이 보석같지 않은 곳이 교회이다. 하나님 말씀만이 보석이다.

Revelation 요한 계시록 21: 18~21

¹⁸ The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass.

¹⁹ The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone.

The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,

²⁰ the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz,

the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.

²¹ The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl.

The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.

 

18    그 성곽은 벽옥으로 쌓였고 그 성은 정금인데 맑은 유리 같더라
19    그 성의 성곽의 기초석은 각색 보석으로 꾸몄는데

첫째 기초석은 벽옥이요 둘째는 남보석이요 셋째는 옥수요 넷째는 녹보석이요
20    다섯째는 홍마노요 여섯째는 홍보석이요 일곱째는 황옥이요 여덟째는 녹옥이요

아홉째는 담황옥이요 열째는 비취옥이요 열한째는 청옥이요 열두째는 자수정이라
21    그 열두 문은 열두 진주니 각 문마다 한 개의 진주로 되어 있고 성의 길은 맑은 유리 같은 정금이더라

4-4. 선악과를 통해 죄가 들어옴 - 즉 하나님과 같아지려는 교만

하나님과 인간의 차이가 선악과를 통해서 우리에게 주어졌다 - 우리는 하나님의 피조물이다.
