A Prayer

 

A Prayer   

Father, I ask you to bless my friends reading this right now.

I am asking You to minister to their spirit at this very moment.

Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy.

Where there is self doubting, release a renewed confidence

in Your ability to work through them.

Where there is tiredness, or exhaustion,

I ask You to give them understanding, patience, and strength

as they learn submission to your leading.

Where there is spiritual stagnation,

I ask You to renew them by revealing Your nearness,

and by drawing them into greater intimacy with You.

Where there is fear, reveal Your love, and release to them Your courage.

Where there is a sin blocking them, reveal it,

and break its hold over my friend's life.

Bless their finances, give them greater vision, and raise up leaders,

and friends to support, and encourage them.

Give each of them discernment to recognize the evil forces around them,

and reveal to them the power they have in You to defeat it.

I ask You to do these things in Jesus' name.

"꼬마야, 진열장을 그렇게 뚫어져라 쳐다보는 이유라도 있는거니?" "저는 지금 하나님께 신발 한 켤레만 달라고 기도하고 있는 중이에요" 부인은 소년의 손목을 잡고 가게 안으로 들어갔습니다. 부인은 우선 양말 몇 켤레를 주문하고 나서 물이 담긴 세숫대야와 수건을 빌려 가게 뒤편으로 소년을 데리고 가서 앉히더니, 무릎을 꿇고 소년의 발을 씻긴 뒤 수건으로 물기를 닦아주었습니다. 부인은 점원이 가지고 온 양말중에서 한 켤레를 소년의 발에 신겨 주었습니다. 소년의 차가운 발에 따뜻한 온기가 전해지는 순간이었습니다. 부인은 신발도 몇 켤레 사준 후, 남은 신발과 양말은 잃어버리지 않도록 끈으로 묶어 소년의 손에 꼭 쥐어 주면서 소년의 어깨를 가볍게 토닥이며 말했습니다. "꼬마야, 안심하거라. 자 이제 기분이 좀 나아졌니?" 소년은 엷은 미소를 띠고 말없이 고개를 끄덕일 뿐이었습니다. 부인도 살짝 소년에게 웃음을 지어 보였습니다. 그런데 조금 뒤 그녀가 가던 길을 가기 위해 몸을 돌리려는 순간, 소년이 부인의 손을 잡고는 얼굴을 가만히 쳐다보는 것이었습니다. 소년은 눈에 물기를 가득 머금고 물었습니다.
